Postby JHawk4 » Mon Feb 06, 2012 2:42 pm

Hello Fellow Contraptioneers!

Welcome to another JHawk4 Competition, with a brand new challenge idea! In this competition, you will be shown a small thumbnail level preview. You will make a bet, with only the small picture as a guide, on how many pieces you can solve the level in. If you beat the level in a less than (or equal to) your bet, your score is the bet you made. If you go over your bet, you shall be penalized.

Rules:
-You will be presented the picture, with a few days to place a bet.
-You may not play without a bet made previously made on a level.
-You may either PM or post your bet, and re-bet if you desire.
-You will then be given the level shown in the picture.
-You will beat that in as few pieces as possible.
-PM your design and your bet for the next round to me. (multiple subs allowed)
-If you tie or beat your bet, your score is your bet.
-If you go over your bet, you die get twice your piece count.
-The winner will be the player with the lowest score.
-There will be four rounds. ;)

WOW, you get twice your piece count if you dont match your bet. Thats a stiff penalty. I guess that will keep it interesting.

I guess thats not as stiff a penalty as dying.

Re: Betting Competition! Bet before the 14th!

Alright, the first picture is up, and you can place bets until Tuesday the 14th.

I've decided to let you each decide whether or not you want to share your bet, to allow for more strategy.

Oh! A new contest! Look very interresting! I love the way it's different! Even though I'm not good in low pieces, if I want a chance of getting to the next round, I would say...about 25 pieces!

25 pieces is my bet :D

By the way, hope you won't mind if I tell you this, but I'm taking the risk of looking like a fool ;)

If you'd like people to make risky bet, you should put a penality also for a too HIGH bet with the final design. Because the way I understand your rules ( might be a misunderstood of my own), I will have a penality for under betting my solve, but not if I over bet it...so...what if I always bet 150 lines and I can make a 9 pieces solves? (except that I will look like an idiot  ) ??? It will turn to be a normal low pieces competitions! Won't it?

BUT! (and here is my idea)If you put a rules of...let say...maximum 10 pieces under your bet...for my instance, I bet 25, so I just CAN'T make a design under 15 pieces!!! This way, if people what to win, they will be in obligation of taking a risky low bet!!!

Anyway! I'm anxious to see and try the full level!

I am taking a chance and will post my first bet. I bet 8 pieces.. It will work out nicely or it will be a short competition for me.

If I make a bet and then someone bets lower than me or I decide I think I can do better than what I originally bet, can I change (lower) my bet if it is still before the deadline?

Also, that picture leaves so much unknown. I'm not sure how anyone can make an educated guess as to how many pieces it will require to solve. Are we to believe there are no more goal pieces. There could be 30 more red goal balls off to the side. There might as well be no picture at all. I love the idea for the comp. Really! I think its very creative and original, and I'm excited to play. I just wonder if we can get a little more info, for example: every picture will show how many goal pieces there are... or something like that.
-always excited for a jHawk comp!

Well, for this round it is a pretty complete picture, yet I can't say the same for the others. It will help shake things up near the end versus those who play it safe.
