I am going to keep the theme a secret for now, the current theme I currently have in mind is not a sure thing yet anyways. One thing I am pretty convinced on doing is to make It a 5-life elimination comp, last time it was a 9-lifer and I thought that was too many, but I also like the idea of not being eliminated just because of one bad round. It is looking pretty good so far.

I also like the idea of not being eliminated because of one bad round, I also pefer that you lose 1 life per round, not 1 here, 2 there and maybe some other amount again.

Looking forward to it..

Does anyone else agree with doinkster?

I agree with Doinkster regarding the loss of lives varying from one round to the next. It weights the value of certain rounds more than others. I'd also prefer eliminating the opportunity to gain extra lives in certain rounds for the same reason. I will compete either way since your comps are always good but that's just how I'd probably do it if I were hosting the comp :D

On a side note, I had an idea to host an "anti-competition". The idea would be preventing the level from solving in each round. The scoring would have to be based on piece count as I can think of no other way to do it. I know it won't help anyone's badge/level ratio but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in anything like that.

Thanks for your suggestions. The theme I currently have in mind is kinda similar what you said. In my next comp, you will have to solve each round with as few pieces as possible, but you will not be allowed to get certain badges each round, it will hive things a new twist

Wow,more competitions,nice!
I need time for them anyway x_x
Just saying my opinion:I like the two methods of losing lives, the most important is the fun.
Nice score methods too,I'm thinking on two competitions, very different of all the pasts...
(if my english is dificult to understand someone please notice me)

edit:gosh,I thought that would be my post 141,but it is the 142,I wanted to make something speacial on the 142 :(

I just finished making the qualifier and one of the rounds. I think I will be able to start the comp near the end of march break, or maybe soon after. I am planning on making 7-8 rounds in total, each lasting 3-4 days.

Updated, looks like we're getting more players per comp, that's good.

I have two ideas for possible competitions.

One idea is to use existing levels as rounds.
So the player may look at a lot of solutions while playing.
His task is to try to improve the existing solves.
Of course the rounds must be chosen amongst the levels that are not already optimized.

The second idea is to use 10 existing unsolved levels per round.
The player gets one point for every level he solves with fewer pieces than anybody else.
In this way we use the competition also to solve the unsolved levels.

I'm not sure these are good ideas for competitions but I wanted
to write them down here in this thread
in case they may turn out somehow useful.
